Our Vision and Values
We want our children to be happy, healthy, enthusiastic learners who are confident and believe in themselves.
We aim to provide a safe, secure environment where all children are respected and valued as individuals, and are supported and empowered by staff who are passionate about Early Years.
Little Bookham & Effingham Preschool offers full day and morning sessions for children aged 2 to 4 years in a spacious indoor classroom and outdoor cabin overlooking the surrounding fields and woodland. We offer small class sizes with up to 18 children per session run by our small team of qualified and experienced Early Years Practitioners.
The Preschool is owned by Emma (our Manager and Early Years Teacher) and Catherine (our Deputy Manager and Early Years Teacher) who lead our preschool sessions on a daily basis. Emma holds a BA (Hons) in Early Years and Catherine holds a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies; both have many years experience working with children in Early Years.
We strongly believe in the importance of owners and managers working 'in numbers', building strong, positive relationships with children and their families and liaising with parents on a daily basis. This allows us to tailor the preschool experience around children's individual needs, ensuring the approaches that we use, our resources and activities are completely relevant to the children in our care.
At preschool we follow an 'active learning' approach to Early Years which promotes independent and creative thinking, decision making, and problem solving. We focus on creating an engaging environment and routines that encourage adult-child interaction, and qualified staff are always on hand to support, enhance and extend children's learning opportunities.
We are situated in the border of Little Bookham and Effingham in Surrey, and have children attending from the surrounding areas. We are based at King George V Hall on Browns Lane in Effingham and overlook the stunning fields and woodlands on offer at KGV. The facilities has its own large, free car park which is available for parents to use during preschool hours. We have access to a wide range of outdoor experiences, including our own secure free-flow outdoor area attached to the hall. We make frequent use of the fields, woodlands and playgrounds at KGV.
We first opened in January 2012 in All Saint's Church hall in Little Bookham, and then had an exciting opportunity to move over 'across the field' to the King George V Hall in October 2012 which offered us increased space and extra facilities. We kept our small class sizes and focused on offering the best possible preschool experience for our children.

We use Tapestry Online Learning Journeys to record our children's progress and share children's experience with parents with photos, observations, videos and clear links to the Development Matters, Characteristics of Effective Learning and the Leuven Scales of Involvement and Wellbeing. Its a great way to get parents involved in children's learning and see how we plan 'in the moment' for our children. Parents are encouraged to add comments and observations from home. Please use the link below for more information or to log in to see your child's Learning Journey
